Chiropractic Care

On your first visit we will perform an interview and initial assessment. We accomplish this by using a combination of digital x-rays, thermographic instrumentation, and functional analysis. Dr Gilmer will go over your findings and connect the dots to help you better understand your condition(s).

Our chiropractic drop tables and precision adjustments eliminate the need for twisting and make treatment more comfortable for you. We determine the exact location of your subluxation using our x-ray and thermographic instrumentation, allowing us to deliver gentle, effective adjustments precisely where necessary. There are no general manipulations given to our patients, only specific adjustments based on your personal needs and condition(s).

Chiropractic care primarily is the analysis of the spine and correction of subluxations – see Chiropractic Adjustments and Subluxation sections. However, often times muscle and other soft tissues may be stressed or strained and require attention. We provide manual therapies treatments including myotherapy treatments which can help to relieve the stress and tension allowing the spine and other joints to improve. These therapies are a part of your chiropractic care and will be prescribed during your visit with Dr. Gilmer.

Our goal is to correct problems in your spine instead of just covering up symptoms that can sometimes be misleading. However, before the problems can be corrected, we need to be able to locate them.  Chiropractic instrumentation (thermography) is the key to determining the presence or absence of these problems called vertebral subluxations. All examinations at our office begin with a non-invasive scan with our thermographic instrument, which records fluctuations in radiant heat along your spine. These fluctuations are indicative of musculature irritation and blood flow anomalies generally associated with a vertebral subluxation. Understanding the information provided by the thermographic instrument eliminates the guesswork and allows us to give you quality, specific adjustments so you can get fast, lasting results.

A subluxation is a condition of the spine where a specific vertebra misaligns or loses function. When vertebral subluxations occur, there are many complications that may arise—you may develop muscle spasms, a stiff neck or back, experience pain, your movements may be restricted, or you may not notice any symptoms at all. When these subluxations are left untreated, chronic conditions can develop, and an eventually lead to more permanent problems.

Remove interference and restore function. It's that simple. When everything on the inside of our body is functioning properly, we are healthy.

When something on the inside isn't working properly, we start to have pain or symptoms. The symptoms are the body's warning signal. It's kind of like that "check engine" light that goes off on your dashboard if somethings wrong with your car.

The beauty of chiropractic is that it's designed to restore proper function. Once the function is restored, the pain (or warning signal) often goes away, and then the body can begin to heal itself.

The goal of our specific chiropractic care is to restore proper structure and function to your spine. When your spine is functioning properly, there is less strain on the muscles around your spine. When those muscles are relaxed, there is less pressure on surrounding nerves. With less pressure on the nerves, your back and neck pain are relieved. However, we focus on more than just relieving back and neck pain.

Nerves not only allow you to feel pain, they control all of your bodily functions, i.e. blood pressure, digestion, etc. With our chiropractic care, we can remove nerve interference caused by vertebral subluxations, allowing your nervous system to work to its full potential. So while under our care you may notice your neck and back pain disappear, but other common conditions may disappear as well.

It's no secret that chiropractic addresses pain effectively. The benefits don't stop there, though. Chiropractic was developed to reduce the effects that spinal dysfunction can have on the nervous system. Such dysfunction can disrupt the proper communication between the brain and the body. To maintain overall health, both must communicate clearly allowing the body to be healthier and allowing you to feel better.
